Cats and Memory
I have a weird relationship with cats. I dont know what have they done to me or was I traumatised in the past by them but I just keep them at 18783945739 arms length away from me. By chance, I got free tickets to this play. Hahaha, I always have this kind of perks, just BDBJ (bo dai bo ji), my friend has got free tickets to the show and I was invited.
My first response was, "why not? Its a famous play and its free." Hahaha, in my mind was, "Ok, I hope their make up is no good." HAHAHA!!! =x Yes, things are that bad with cats, I am terrified, mortified whatever-fied. So off I go and before I did, I did a google on it so that I can roughly know what it is about. I read a little on it and I realised it was by Andrew Lloyd Webber, yup, the same guy who came up with Phantom of the Opera and I listened to the the song, "Memory". The storyline was simple. They introduced the different kinds of cats and what they were going. The crew was very interacting. Before the start of the show, they were running around pretending to be cats and mingling with us! The funny part is I was really kinda scared although after awhile it went away. I did let my friend know that I have this phobia and he was funny enough to tell me not to worry because he will bark like a dog if they come near me. Funnily, there were people who really barked like a dog during the play! =)
All the cats names were long and it was so difficult to remember them! I could only remember two names which is Gus and Grizabella and my friend was actually amazed. =x Because he said he cannot remember any and so during intermission, he went to get the Program. HAHAHA!!! Above is actually one of my favourite cats, Rum Tum Tugger! =p I am a lady so it is no doubt that I will like him. =p Super confident and flirtatious! *Slurp slurp* I like I like. HAHAHA!!!
Grizabella is the Glamour cat who left the group awhile ago and now yearns to go back to the group. She sang "Memory" and my friend who said this play was not his cup of tea thought it was all worthwhile to come and watch just because he heard "Memory".
It is a sad song and I am still listening to it now. Imagine I was listening to it yesterday when it was pouring! W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!!!
Daylight See the dew on the sunflower And a rose that is fading Roses whither away Like the sunflowerI yearn to turn my face to the dawn I am waiting for the day
Midnight Not a sound from the pavement Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone In the lamplight The withered leaves collect at my feet And the wind begins to moan
Memory All alone in the moonlight I can smile at the old days I was beautiful then I remember the time I knew what happiness was Let the memory live again
Every streetlamp Seems to beat a fatalistic warning Someone mutters And the streetlamp gutters And soon it will be morning
Daylight I must wait for the sunrise I must think of a new life And I musn't give in When the dawn comes Tonight will be a memory too And a new day will begin
Burnt out ends of smoky days The stale cold smell of morning The streetlamp dies, another night is over Another day is dawning
Touch me It's so easy to leave me All alone with the memory Of my days in the sun If you touch me You'll understand what happiness is
Look A new day has begun
Have you watched this? I got reminded of this movie when Grizabella sang "Memory"

It has a very interesting plot. The guy actually went to erase the girl from the memory because he found out that the girl has erased him away from the memory after they broke up. I remember the girl's name is Clementine but the guy who is played by Jim Carey, hah, I dont remember the name. During the erasing process, Jim Carey regretted and tried to do whatever he can to keep Clementine in his memory. He failed. Later, they met each other again, fell instantly in love, not knowing that they have fallen in love before. Nurse in clinic sent them recordings that they have made before the memories were erased and they realised everything and still decided to be together. Throughout the whole movie, they also showed people who chose to erase either their dead loved ones or pets from their memories because it was too hard for them to take. The devastation was not bearable and so, there you go, a very interesting movie. Go watch it if you have not, of course, if you are madly, deeply and happily in a relationship, no, dont watch it. Hah! You combine "Memory" and this movie and the fact that tomorrow is Monday and that you still have to work tonight, that will be a great concoction named "Bang the wall". Seriously, is there anyone you would like him/her to be erased from your memory? Labels: plays
